Confusing outcome with strategy

People confused between strategy and outcome. IMO A basic lesson every investor should learn. Either a strategy is correct or not before we know the fact is difficult.  If a investor would have known earlier, he would have invested his/her entire investment in real estate in India rather than having a diversified portfolio. Now you know the outcome (i.e. past performance) what would be the strategy?

It is like selecting Indian cricket team entirely based upon T20 performance which is totally different asset class as compare to ODI and test match :).
